Big fan of Sir David Attenborough and his work. In his latest documentary David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet, he made a witness statement about what has happened to the natural world in his lifetime and pivoted to the potential methods to stop the madness (my word, not his!).
I am going to dedicate this post to shining a light on the climate change issue, or should I say, communication issue.
The problem is "how?"
Very recently, Sir David joined Instagram and set the Guinness World Record for reaching one million followers the fastest - in just over four hours.
Clearly, he is not in his "usual habitat". But the message he wants to send out is so important he is willing to use any medium to do so.
There it is. Learning and doing what it takes to produce a positive change.
It is my life goal to create a greener future for my children. In my opinion, the world needs more bold people who are willing to step up and convey the urgency of environmental issues to the general public in a practical and actionable manner.
We need environmental leaders of different sorts to continue showing people why it is worth changing.
We need spiritual leadership which focuses on before-the-fact beliefs and inspired actions as much as we do with evidence-based leadership that focuses on science and real occurings.
Sir David Attenborough's Blue Planet II series single-handedly got more than half of the people in the UK and US to reduce their usage of single-use plastics, an incredible phenomenon now known as the "Attenborough" effect.
Greta Thunberg's lead-by-example environmental activism has caught attention across generations especially the young. Her relentless boldness has inspired younger minds to take actions, manifesting the "Greta" effect online and offline.
If you think becoming like them is rather unlikely in your case, just consider doing the following.
Stop wasting energy, food and supplies
Pay for sustainable products
Use your voice
Eat less meat
Be informed
Don't look far. Start small, extra small. Clean your plate or prepare less food. Pay a few more bucks for a more sustainable product if needed. Relax, you are not going to starve by the end of the month because of that. And think about your children's future. Ask people about their opinions of the Climate Change. Perhaps the problems with beef or meat in general. Demand your local authorities to tackle environmental issues. Read more. Be the change.
